    Description

Webster House of Ceramics OLD RIP Eastland Tx Horned Lizard HORNY TOAD Souvenir FIGURINE
Dedicated to the Horned Lizard named "RIP"
Rip lived in the cornerstone of the Eastland, Texas County Courthouse for 31 years.
Rip was shoved into the cornerstone when the building was dedicated in 1897.
In 1928, 3,000 people apparently witnessed Rip's miraculous recovery when the cornerstone was removed ~ HE WAS STILL ALIVE!
Rip lived at the new courthouse until he died of pneumonia in 1929. ~ R.I.P.
His EMBALMED BODY is on display in the courthouse lobby, after exhibitions traveling the country for many years, including a visit to President Coolidge in Washington!
Truth is stranger than fiction! Rip was even featured on Ripley's Believe It or Not!
Put Rip on your coffee table- he will make a GREAT conversation piece.
