    Description

    LA BAHIA MISSION ~ GOLIAD
"Established in 1749, Presidio La Bahia was built to protect Mission Espiritu Santo de Zuniga and Spain's interests in the New World.
The town of Goliad grew up around it.  Perhaps the most fought-over fort in Texas, the presidio was the scene in 1936 of the massacre of Colonel James Fannin and 350 Texans who had been taken captive by a Mexican army ."
