Saucon Mutual was incorporated in
Bethlehem,
Pennsylvania on May 3, 1832, as the Farmers Fire Insurance Company of Upper and Lower Saucon Townships. The company began business that same year and later, Saucon was the first provider of perpetual insurance in the US. The company adopted the name Saucon Mutual Insurance Company (SMIC) on January 15, 1960.
This is an authentic Saucon Mutual Insurance issued small plaque/mark - large paperweight. It is of heavy cast iron costruction and measures approximately 3.25" X 4.75". The mark has a very good paint and is in very good condition with only minor chipping, which actually contribute to the vintage look and feel of this mark. This mark/plaque/weight is a very nice item and would make an excellent addition for any collection of fire marks, firefighting or insurance company memorabilia.
