  • Condition: Shows some ageing on the wooden frame and a small nick at the back which has removed a very small bit of paint background on the outer border of the mirror and shows in the front....but hardly much at all....only mentioned for 100% accuracy.(see pic 8) Please check out all the pics and if you have any questions, please ask them prior to placing a bid.     .   I have owned this sign mirror for quite a few years and have not seen another like it.  Wente Bros. is of course, still in business today, and
    it's delicious wines
    are for sale in supermarkets and multiple outlets!
    History
    :
    Wente
    is the oldest continuously operating, family owned winery in the United States and has been declared a California Historic Landmark.  And, as you can see from the advertising mirror, it's origin dates way back to
    1883
    . I think that the image at the center of the mirror, is probably that of the original farm-house in the 19th century?
    Wente Vineyards are located almost due east of San Francisco in the Livermore valley area.
    The advertising mirror measures 20 1/2" X 14 1/2"...and that includes the wooden frame. (see pic 3 for a size comparison with a
    regular can of Coke
    .
    ALSO, the packaging cost for domestic buyers, has been set for outside of (my) state (Cal) buyers, but if a Californian wins this auction the packaging costs would be much LESS
    .
    My guess is that this piece dates to the
    1970's or 80's
    ....in other words to the early period of the production of these advertising mirrors.
    Just a super piece for wine lovers and especially for wine loving Californians!
