, 57 mill owners found it difficult to acquire insurance at affordable prices. The insurance companies of the day refused to write insurance on gristmills because they were dangerous and risky to insure
(due to the explosive nature of grain dust).
The philosophy behind Pennsylvania Millers Mutual Insurance was to offer the best possible insurance coverage for 57 mill owners at the lowest possible cost. The original mill owners found that by a policy of careful selection, strict underwriting, regular inspection and engineering each risk losses could be reduced and rates kept low.
This plaque was obtan in a lot of several insurance company plaques that had been in storage since March 1994. This plaque had notes on the back showing that it was purchased used in 1975. Also a couple of the plaques listed manufacturer information, which placed them between the 1920's to 1970's. Based on the designs, construction and signs of age, I would estimate that these are at least 70-90 years old or more.
This plaque has a dark gold reverse glass face plate with black trim and gold letters on a medium brown solid wood plaque. It has the Company's Name and their Keystone Logo on it. This agency plaque/sign measures approximately 10.5" x 11.75". It is in Good Condition for it's age, with only minor sign of it's age and the glass has not cracks or chips.  This would make an excellent addition to a collection of insurance memorabilia, or a great gift for an agent-broker-employee.
