Remarkable NYX Greek Goddess Of Night Cameo ~
I just adore a good cameo and this carved rendition of NYX is magnificent! The cameo captures the essence of night with a carved moon face, a star and a night owl along with her flowing black veil and calm but firm demeanor. This is an expert and powerful carving.
The cameo is hand carved shell with amazing detail and wonderful 3D effects.  The setting is tested 14k rose gold and has clean shiny frame with a roped bezel.  The back has a swivel bail and a working pin assembly.  The brooch measures 2" long x 1 9/16" wide and it weighs 12.80g.
The piece is in excellent antique condition.  There is no damage to the artwork or the shell, it is not chipped anywhere or broken.  The surface shows very minimal wear and the carving and the background shows natural elements throughout.  The gold shows slight wear commensurate with age, one tiny wavy spot near the bottom, nothing to deter from the appearance, just mentioned for accuracy.
The cameo has been gently cleaned and the gold frame has been gently polished to restore shine.   The last photograph is taken with flash, standing upright and back lit so you can see through the cameo.   You will love this precious and rare find!
NYX ~ She stood near the beginning of creation and was mother to many deity. She had such exceptional powers that she was unstoppable, unchallenged and revered by many other gods.
