Description
Meyers Blue Hand-Painted Sombrero C. 1936 Dallas TX Bluebonnet souvenir.Most of t
hese pieces of Texas touristware were originally sold in San Antonio & other popular Texas tourist destinations. I believe this piece dates to the 1930's.
Since this is faintly marked for Dallas, good chance this was a souvenir from the 1936 Texas Centennial Celebration which took place at Fair Park. I believe the silver tag reads as follows: Souvenir of Dallas, Texas.
The detailing has the look of a piece possibly painted by Agnes Meyers -- sorry, I don't know how to positively attribute but it looks right to me.
Dimen
s
ions: 4-5/8” long x 4” wide x 3.25” tall
Unpacked weight: 5.2 Oz.
Condition:
Very good giftable condition. One mentionable issues: 1) one small paint l
oss flea bite on left rim (see photo #8) and 2) underside, two spots of light paint loss where item was moved around on flat surface commiserate with age and use (see last 5 photos). I feel roughness on right side rim, but I see it is overpainted – meaning manufacturing flaw. Paint intact with good color and without scratches or erosion. No other chips, flakes, breaks, mends, repairs, cracks, hairlines, blemishes, or mentionable boo-boo's.
Always happy to pass through discounts on combined shipping. I only charge actual postage, and always use recycled packing materials.
Note some photos appear redundant because I take photos from all possible angles. On symmetrical items, these photos may appear redundant when there are no distinguishing differences or condition issues between side views.
I gladly accept returns, but please note I do not pay return postage unless there was a significant error in my description.
The item listed is being sold as is, as pictured and as described to the best of my knowledge. All dimensions and weights approximate. If you have a question or an assumption on an item prior to purchase, please ask. I much prefer to take the time on the front end to make sure you will be satisfied with your purchase.
Remember, when buying vintage expect imperfections as these items have a history and have been in the possession of others. I try to list EVERY flaw which would be commented on something in an antique or vintage condition – this does not mean all imperfections resulting from normal wear & use require comment. My goal is to have no rude surprises upon receipt.
