    Description

This is a cast iron coat or hat hook with a medallion advertising I.N.A. (The insurance Company of North America) which was founded in 1792 (the date is below the eagle) and was America's first home insurance company. The eagle fire mark was adopted in 1796 and was originally made of lead and placed on insured homes. I do not know the history or provenance of this piece. It is possible this was part of the company's advertising, but I am offering it as an antique/vintage piece without making a representation of its age or origin, which I do not know. It is about 4 3/8" top to bottom and 4" wide and weight a little less than 1/2 lb. and is in great condition. Please examine the pictures closely and ask any questions (or feel free to tell me if you know more info).
    Thanks for looking!
