    Description

    Fine Antique Nouveau XL Shell Cameo of Goddess Psyche carved in 3 layers in High Relief.  Cameo is carved in exquisite detail using 3 layers of the shell, with the top orange layer used to highlight her hair, her bodice, and her identifying butterfly on her shoulder.  Carving is very detailed and high relief with lovely crisp details in her hair, her wings, her classic profile, her gown, and the butterfly on her shoulder.  Truly a wearable work of art.
    The cameo is a wonderful large size measuring approximately 2 1/2" x 1 7/8".  Weight is 16.7 grams.  Cameo has a fold down bale allowing wear as a necklace and has its original pin and period fold over locking c clasp marked for 10k gold. The mount is hand wrought engraved 10k gold.
    This is a beautiful example of Old World Hand craftsmanship absent in today's mass manufactured pieces.  A true heirloom to treasure and pass down to the next generation!
