Antique Art Nouveau Shell Cameo Goddess Ceres Hallmarked 14k Yellow Gold Mount

Fine Antique Art Nouveau Carved Shell Cameo Goddess Ceres, the Goddess of the Harvest or the Goddess of Abundance.  Mount is Hand Wrought and Hallmarked "14k."  Cameo is carved in High Relief using 3 layers of the shell.  The top orange layer is used to gently highlight the Goddess' hair, her cheeks,  her head covering, her identifying stalks of wheat in her hair, and the bodice of her gown.  The details of the carving remain crisp and are executed in exquisite detail.  This is truly a wearable work of art!! An Heirloom to treasure and pass down to the next generation!!
The mount is hand wrought and has gold leaf decorations applied to the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions of the mount.  The mount is marked on the reverse "14k."  The Cameo is a large size and is substantial.  The cameo retains its original pin and period roll over locking c clasp which is in perfect working order and allows wear as a brooch.  The Cameo also has a fold down bale allowing wear as a pendant.
The cameo measures approximately 2 1/4" x 1 1/2".  Weight is 13.4 grams.
This is a fabulous example of Old World Craftsmanship absent in today's mass manufactured pieces.  A wonderful addition to any fine antique jewelry collection!!
