Reaction from D-FW officers to Thursday’s Dallas police shooting

Reactions to the late night shooting involving three Dallas police officers began flooding social media Friday morning. One officer died and two others are hospitalized after a confrontation in Oak Cliff.
Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia was among the first to react online to the shooting. He posted: “No words” on his X account shortly after 5 a.m. Friday.

The Dallas Police Department also shared in a Friday morning blog post that all flags will fly at half-staff at city facilities.
Beyond D-FW, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez posted a message of support for the fallen police officer Friday morning on his X account.
“Police officers are true heroes,” he added.

Police departments and law enforcement across Texas offered their support to the officers and to the Dallas Police Department.
The suspect was killed in Lewisville after a lengthy chase with police. The city’s police department said none of its officers were involved in the shooting and posted a message of support on their Facebook page.
“Lewisville Police Department is heartbroken, extend our deepest sympathies, and prayers and thoughts to the Dallas Police Department and their families,” the post said.

Numerous law enforcement agencies across North Texas posted similar tributes. These included the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Worth Police and the Arlington Police Department.
